AVIF to JPG

Convert AVIF to JPG online

Create a JPG copy of an AVIF still image for a viewer, editor or upload destination that expects JPEG. Convert locally in a browser that can decode the source, with no account, credits or file upload. Pixel dimensions stay the same; transparency becomes white and the JPG is re-encoded.

Conversion runs in your browser. Dimensions stay the same; EXIF metadata is removed. JPG uses a white background for transparent areas.

Convert an AVIF image to JPG in three steps

01

Choose an AVIF still image

Select, drop or paste one compatible AVIF image up to 15 MB and 40 megapixels. Your browser must be able to decode that particular file.

02

Create a JPG copy

Choose Convert image. The browser decodes the AVIF and encodes a JPEG locally. Transparent areas are placed on a white background.

03

Inspect and download

Review color, fine detail and the white background, then save the individual JPG. Check it in the intended app before replacing your source; no batch ZIP export is provided.

AVIF and JPG: efficiency versus compatibility

AVIF uses AV1-based image coding and can represent features beyond a conventional JPEG. A JPG copy can help when a particular destination cannot handle the AVIF file, but the formats are not interchangeable without trade-offs.

  • Compression: AVIF and JPEG can encode the same scene at different sizes and quality levels. A JPG may be larger, and re-encoding can introduce additional loss; there is no universal size-saving percentage.
  • App compatibility: JPEG is a practical option for many viewers, editors and upload forms. Check the actual destination rather than assuming that every application accepts every JPG.
  • Decoding requirements: the source AVIF must open in your browser first. Device resources and the file’s encoding affect conversion time; the workbench does not install a decoder or guarantee a fixed speed.

Three uses for an AVIF-to-JPG copy

Keep the original AVIF for future use and make a JPEG only when the next task benefits from it.

  • Editors and desktop viewers: create a copy for software that cannot import your AVIF, then check the picture in that application.
  • Messaging and social uploads: use the destination’s supported format and review its resulting thumbnail or preview. Platforms can still apply their own size limits and recompression.
  • Printing and proofing: provide a JPEG if the print service requests it, then verify dimensions, color requirements and a proof. Conversion alone does not guarantee accurate print color or a successful print run.

Free local processing with an individual download

The converter works on a single supported still image without a paid-generation step.

  • Device-based conversion: processing uses your browser’s available decoder and encoder. Large files can take more time and memory; there is no measured millisecond or multi-core performance promise.
  • No conversion upload: the image is not sent to a remote conversion service. This local workflow is separate from provider-based AI editing.
  • One result at a time: choose one file within 15 MB / 40 MP, convert and download it before selecting the next. There is no batch queue or ZIP archive.
  • Separate AI enlargement: use Image Upscaler for a larger image when needed. It uses its own paid credits and remote processing rather than being part of this free conversion.

Conversion does not create a sharper original

A JPG copy retains the decoded image’s width and height. It does not recover compression losses or add genuine source detail. If you need a larger output, consider an enlargement as a separate task and inspect any synthesized texture.
