Unblur text

Unblur text: clearer text, easier reading

Unblur text in screenshots, scanned pages and photographed notes. Refine soft character edges, compare the page with your source and choose a text-enhancement mode for closer reading. Check every important name, number and code before using the result.

Text enhancement examples: what to check

Explore four common text-enhancement tasks and the details to inspect in each. The comparison above illustrates the editing goal; results depend on your source image and selected treatment.

Screenshots and conversations

Check individual messages, timestamps and punctuation in compressed chat captures. Sharper strokes can help readability, but verify every number and word that matters.

Scans and typed documents

Inspect paragraph lines, reference codes and tables. Compare the document’s layout and background as well as its words, because enhancement can alter styling.

Handwritten study notes

Look closely at joined strokes, dates and small diagrams. Partly legible handwriting gives more to work with than heavily smeared or missing characters.

Receipts and small print

Compare totals, decimal separators, item lines and transaction codes with the original. A clearer-looking receipt can still contain an incorrect character.

How to unblur text in an image

01

Add your text image

Choose, drop or paste a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 15 MB and 40 megapixels. A screenshot, clean scan or evenly lit photo of the page is a suitable starting point.

02

Select Standard or Pro

Standard text enhancement uses 6 credits, with output up to 2K. Pro uses 8 credits and supports up to 4K. Select the mode and JPG, PNG or WebP output in the workbench.

03

Compare characters and save

Inspect the original and enhanced image with the slider. Check names, dates, amounts and codes at full size, then download the result you want to keep.

How text enhancement improves readability

Compression, missed focus and low-resolution scans can blend neighboring strokes together. Text enhancement works with the visible shapes to make letter boundaries easier to inspect. It may reconstruct a plausible character rather than faithfully recover the original one.

The input remains an image of a page, screenshot or label. Check margins, line breaks and surrounding graphics along with the text: paper tone, fonts and small marks can change. A readable result still needs comparison with the source.

Choose Standard for a lower-cost readability pass or Pro for a larger image to inspect, crop, present or print. Standard supports up to 2K and Pro up to 4K; additional pixels do not guarantee correct letters.

Text images worth trying

Start with writing that is soft but still partly recognizable: screenshots, scanned reports, meeting notes, receipts, product labels and photographed notices. Very small characters and strong motion smears give the model less reliable information.

Extract text from an image

Visual enhancement and plain-text extraction are separate tasks. The Extract text mode is for content you want to review and reuse in notes, a spreadsheet or a translation workflow; its rate is 1 credit per image.

Compare any extracted text with the original and the enhanced image. For example, a handwritten “7D” might be interpreted as “70”, or a faint decimal point might disappear. A second reading that agrees with the first can still share the same mistake.

  • Review the original image beside the text before copying it into another document.
  • Check names, amounts, dates, decimal separators and reference numbers character by character.
  • Keep uncertain characters marked as uncertain. Do not turn a plausible reading into a claim of accuracy.

Core text-enhancement features

Focus on readability while checking that the document still represents the same source.

  • More defined letter strokes: inspect fine outlines and neighboring characters that have blended together.
  • Cleaner character edges: reduce the visual distraction of softness and compression around small type.
  • Page-wide review: compare tables, margins and surrounding illustrations, because a model can change fonts or marks.
  • Higher-resolution inspection: use Pro output up to 4K for detailed review, slide layouts or printing.

Where clearer text images can help

Choose a use case that matches your source, then verify its most consequential details.

  • Chat and app screenshots: review message text, subtitles, interface labels and timestamps softened by forwarding or scaling.
  • Research papers and scans: inspect paragraphs, footnotes, tables and citations in an exported page image.
  • Handwritten and classroom notes: compare joined letters, annotations, arrows and small diagrams with the original page.
  • Receipts and invoices: verify totals, tax figures and transaction identifiers against the original record.
  • Packaging and product labels: inspect small print and specifications. Verify any health or safety instruction using the actual label.
  • Posters and newspaper clippings: inspect lines photographed from a distance or angle, and keep an unedited copy for comparison.

Tips for more useful text clarity

Prepare the source before uploading and make verification part of the edit.

  • Crop a copy around the relevant paragraph or label so unnecessary background does not dominate the image.
  • Use the original screenshot or camera photo instead of a thumbnail or repeatedly compressed download.
  • Photograph paper flat under even light. Retain the color source for faint pencil or thermal-print details.
  • Read any extracted text word by word. Compare every important number and code with the source, including text that looks confident.

Limits of text deblurring

  • Redacted or deliberately pixelated text cannot be reliably recovered. New characters in an obscured region are guesses.
  • An enhanced image is a readability aid. Keep original records and verify consequential legal or financial details independently.
  • The visual result is an image, not an editable Word document. Extracted text needs the same accuracy checks as the image.
  • Files are not retained permanently: AI uploads, outputs and links expire within 24 hours. Download what you want to keep.
