Five photo-to-painting scenarios

Use the oil and watercolor previews in the workbench to explore the style. These five scenarios explain what to compare in portraits and pet pictures, without treating a painted detail as a faithful photographic copy.

Two-person portraits in oil

Compare both faces, smiles and their relationship in the frame. Oil styling can turn a porch, flowers and clothing into more visible layers of brushwork.

A portrait in watercolor

Look for soft color washes and a lighter paper-like appearance. Check the original face and pose as the background becomes looser and more painterly.

A pet painted in oil

Inspect the outline, coat markings and eye color. Richer brushwork can also shift a white or pale fur area toward a warmer shade.

A pet in watercolor

Compare contrasting face patches, eyes and fur boundaries. Softer washes should still be reviewed for the distinctive markings that make your pet familiar.

A single portrait in oil

Review hands, pose and facial features against the source. A plain background can become layered strokes while the person remains the focus.

What the photo-to-painting tool creates

The whole source image is creatively repainted in your chosen style. The aim is to keep the people, pet, pose and composition recognizable while replacing photographic surface detail with oil brushwork or watercolor washes.

Select one of the two styles instead of writing a prompt. Faces and markings are interpreted through the painting process rather than copied pixel for pixel, so keep the photo nearby when reviewing the result.

The digital output is 2K, or 2048 pixels along its longest side. Inspect it at the intended size for a small print. Use upscaling for a larger layout, sketch for a pencil interpretation, or restoration first when the source print is damaged.

Photos that make useful painting subjects

Choose a clear portrait, couple, family group, pet or travel photograph with a recognizable subject. Good light, visible eyes and enough pixels around the main subject give you more detail to evaluate in the painted version.

Two painting styles, one source photo

Pick the surface and color treatment for the image you want to make.

  • Oil painting: visible strokes, richer color and a background with layered painted texture.
  • Watercolor: softer washes, gentle color transitions and lighter paper-like edges.
  • Recognizable people and pets: preserving faces, hair, age and distinctive fur patterns is the goal; inspect every subject.
  • 2K downloads without a watermark: packs and Pro use the same painting treatment and 5-credit rate.

Review the painting, not just the texture

An attractive painting can still change a detail you care about. Use the original as the comparison point.

  • Two-person oil portraits: check each face and smile, not only the brushwork in the background.
  • Watercolor portraits: compare the pose and facial contours as flat color areas become loose washes.
  • Oil pet portraits: inspect dark and light coat patches, eye color and the warmth of pale fur.
  • Watercolor pets: check that softened boundaries have not changed a distinctive face patch or stripe.
  • Single-person oil portraits: compare hands, posture and hair while assessing the painted backdrop.

Prepare a stronger photo for painting

Choose the source and treatment before planning a print or gift.

  • Start with a sharp photograph. Address softness with photo enhancement before converting the image to paint.
  • Crop a copy around the subject so faces or fur are not tiny within a wide frame.
  • Consider the intended presentation: oil offers denser texture, while watercolor can suit lighter prints and cards.
  • If a face or marking is unsuitable, compare another run from the same source. Each new generation uses the listed credits.

What a digital painting does not promise

  • The product is an AI-created digital image. It is not a hand-painted canvas, and no physical item is shipped.
  • Faces are repainted rather than copied. Small faces and fine features can change, so inspect before printing or gifting.
  • Pet colors and markings can be reinterpreted. Compare the coat pattern and facial shape with your actual source.
  • The selected styles do not request a signature, frame or custom text. Check for stray generated marks in the image.
  • Images are sent to a processing provider and have a 24-hour file window. Download what you want to keep and consult the Privacy Policy.
