Remove glare

Remove glare: keep the photo. Reduce the glare.

Remove glare from a photo to reduce bright reflections on glasses, flash hot spots and distracting sun flare. Keep your existing picture as the starting point and compare any reconstructed area with the source before using the edit.

Glare removal scenarios to compare

The illustrated glasses preview shows an editing goal. These five common situations explain where to look for changes when working with your own photo.

Window reflections on glasses

Inspect the lens surface, frame edges and eyes. Removing a bright window reflection can require the model to estimate facial detail hidden underneath.

Screen light across a lens

Check eye shape, gaze and the original color treatment after reducing a screen reflection. A clearer lens does not guarantee an identical expression.

Sun flare on signs

Review every letter and number around the bright area. The edit can reduce a reflection while still changing a small piece of lettering or leaving some flare.

Flash hot spots on labels

Look for cleaner lighting on the surface, then verify the printed words against the physical item. Filled-in lettering is not a reliable recovery of hidden text.

Outdoor reflections on glasses

Compare the face and overall tone as well as the reflection. If you have no glare-free original, you cannot confirm the exact detail that was obscured.

Remove glare

What photo glare removal does

A reflection can hide surface detail or draw attention away from your subject. Use glare removal for bright lens reflections, camera-flash spots, window light, lamp reflections and some sun flare in an image you already have.

On eyeglasses, the target is the bright area on the lens while the frame stays. This is different from removing the glasses themselves. Facial features, eye openness or color can still shift when the covered region is reconstructed.

The website works in supported iPhone, Android and desktop browsers without a separate app. AI processing uses an external service provider; it is not a browser-only conversion. If the rest of your picture also looks soft, treat that clarity issue separately.

Remove glare

Photos where reducing glare can help

Try reflections on eyeglasses, a flash spot on glossy packaging, sun flare over a sign or an outdoor portrait. Detail still visible around the bright patch provides context. An opaque white area may leave no record of the underlying scene.

Remove glare

Clearer lenses while keeping the glasses

Aim for a less distracting reflection, then review the portrait as a whole.

  • Keep the frame: the treatment targets light on the lens, rather than taking the eyeglasses off the person.
  • Inspect facial changes: reconstructed eyes, gaze, expression and fine skin detail may differ from the source.
  • Use the same treatment for common light sources: windows, screens, camera flash, lamps and sun reflections do not require separate scene presets.
  • Work in a supported browser on your phone or computer, with no additional app installation.
  • Use paid credits for watermark-free, original-size downloads. Pro and one-time packs access the same glare model at the same cost.

Five types of glare worth inspecting

A successful lighting edit still needs a check of the information around and beneath the reflection.

  • Window patterns across glasses: compare the frame, pupils and visible facial features, not just the disappearing bright shape.
  • Colored screen reflections: inspect whether eye openness and the source’s grayscale or color appearance have changed.
  • Sun flare on a sign: verify letters and street numbers individually; some lens-flare artifacts may remain.
  • Flash on a bottle label: compare reconstructed words with the actual label instead of accepting plausible lettering.
  • Outdoor lens glare: review portrait tone and expression. Without a clear comparison image, the hidden detail remains uncertain.

Remove glare

Take photos with less glare

A better capture can preserve detail that an editor would otherwise need to estimate.

  • Change the camera angle slightly until the reflection moves away from the important area.
  • Switch off direct flash on glass and glossy surfaces; try an evenly lit setup with light from the side.
  • For artwork behind glass, reduce reflections from the room with a darker surround or a slight shooting angle.
  • For eyeglasses, adjust the light position or ask for a small head tilt so the bright patch leaves the lenses.

Know the limits of glare removal

  • Completely covered detail is inferred from context. Removing a reflection does not reveal a hidden original with certainty.
  • Words, numbers and small markings can be reconstructed incorrectly. Check labels and handwriting against a separate reliable source.
  • Keep original identity documents and evidence photographs. A lighting edit does not establish what a covered area originally contained.
  • Glare removal keeps the glasses in the picture. Choose the separate glasses-removal tool when you want an edited portrait without them.
  • Eye detail and facial appearance can change; color or warmth may also shift. Inspect more than the bright spot.
  • AI images are sent for processing and have a 24-hour file window. See the Privacy Policy for service-provider handling.
